The Hype Around Beyond Meat in the Fast Food Industry

Introduction:

Beyond meat is hitting the fast food industry like a bullet. In 2019, over 228 million servings of plant-based burgers were sold at fast food restaurants. It has been a 10% increase from just last year and that’s because major fast food companies are advertising there plant-based products like crazy, and it’s working people are fascinated with the idea. It’s not just vegetarians or vegans that are consuming the products it’s also meat lovers that want a change for the environment and themselves.

What is Beyond Meat?:

The Beyond Meat company came up with an idea to sell products that feel, taste and smell like meat, but is completely made out of plants and other natural ingredients. Depending on the product the ingredients vary, but a lot of them contains blend of pea, mung bean and rice proteins. The way they make the Beyond Meat look like real meat is by doing a special cooking process of heating, cooling and pressurize it to make it the same texture as real meat. This also allows the plant-based products, binders and flavors to layer together to make the perfect Beyond Meat.

What Fast Food Companies are Supplying Beyond Meat Products:

In 2017/2018 fast food companies like, Tim Horton’s, A&W and T.G.I Fridays started selling plant-based products and costumers jumped all over it. Once those companies started doing well, other fast food restaurants realized they needed to jump on this trend. Other major companies started including the Beyond Meat Products onto there menus too like, Dunkin’ Donuts, McDonald’s and many more. These companies are investing so much money because they know this trend isn’t going to die anytime soon. Beyond Meat Products has already reached a worth of $140 billion over the past ten years and continues to grow hopefully taking over the $240 billion meat industry.

Why Consumer’s are all over Beyond Meat Products:

Even five years ago it was hard for vegans or vegetarians to find a tasty unhealthy food to munch, but 2018 and 2019 came hard with the Beyond Meat products in the fast food industry. Now that it’s popping up everywhere it feels like a big win for vegetarians and vegans. A blog called, “I Love Vegan,” reviewed the burger and said, ” It’s a burger that’s craveable, something I’d look forward to eating.” This is just one of the many positive reviews from vegans, vegetarians and meat eaters!

Although, vegans and vegetarians are raving about the plant-based products in the fast food industry, so are the meat lovers. Studies show that 95% of consumers of Beyond Meat products in fast food restaurants are non-vegans/vegetarians. This is because 18% of adults want to start incorporating plant-based food into there diets daily, but also don’t want to let go of the sensation of what meat tastes like. After reading many reviews meat lovers either like Beyond Meat products equally as much as meat or even more because of it’s flavor, purpose of helping the environment and trying to have a better diet. Even celebrities who enjoyed meat are partnering up with fast restaurants that have these products. For example, the Los Angeles Lakers basketball team making advertisements to promote the products.

As climate change is getting worse and worse people are more concerned with there carbon footprint and one of the major contributing factors is, beef. Animal agriculture contributes 15% of global greenhouses, where Beyond Meat has a 90% less effect. People want to feel good about what they’re eating and knowing that they are making a difference just by eating a plant-based sausage or burger. That’s how easy it is and that’s why people love it. Some people don’t want to eat healthier, they just want to make a difference.

A statistical fact that millennial’s are obsessed with helping climate change and that 16% of mintels avoid animal products. They will pay the money to make the change and they’re overly satisfied with how fast food companies have come such a long way and are serving plant-based food.
